Jesse is a 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo, he is a student at CHS. He enjoys Martial Arts, his phone, hanging with his friends and cheerleading.


Kurstan Underbrink

Kurstan is a student at CMS. 2012 She has earned her 2nd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. She enjoys Tournaments, hanging with friends Taekwondo and 4 wheeler riding.


Cody McGraw

Cody is a 1st Dan Black Belt. He is a student at CMS, he enjoys Taekwondo, Competing, playing with friends and video games.


She has been practicing Taekwondo and Combat Hapkido for 6 years. On December 5, 2009, she tested for her 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. This test includes all techniques, Forms, and Self-Defense that she has learned since she began her journey to her 1st Dan. Now she is looking forward to her 2nd Dan Test. Ashlee is a students at Logansport High School. She also is a member of Logansport's basketball, Track, Band and Cross Country teams. She has been on the A/B honor roll and/or Superintendent List. She was also nominated for Student of the Year. She is a Medalist in several Martial Arts competition some of which are 2007 AAU Nationals, receiving Bronze in Forms competition, 2008 AAU State Championships receiving Gold for Forms and Silver in Olympic Sparring, and at the  2009 Jr. Olympics she placed with a silver medal in Point sparring. Ashlee is also a member of her churches Drama Team.   She enjoys riding 4-Wheelers when she finds the time. We at Self Defense America are very proud for Ashlee and all her accomplishments.

Kelsey Strong is 2nd Dan Black belt and is a student  at Center Middle School.
She enjoys riding her 4-wheeler, martial arts, drawing, wrestling, hunting, fishing, target shooting and playing with her cat. She has competed at several local competitions in Taekwondo and has placed bringing home several 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards.

Next is Matthew Chandler is a student at Center High School. He enjoys riding his 4-Wheeler, martial arts, baseball, football, tennis playing with friends, Horses and art class. He has competed in UIL competition with music memory for CMS. He enjoys competing in martial arts especially grappling.He has brought many trophies and medals home.  He is a member of the Leadership Club at SDA and the Beta Club at CHS.



Jonica Glaze is a 2nd Dan Black Belt and is a student at Excelsior School. She enjoys Martial Arts, reading, Horses and riding them, playing with her cat, art, riding her 4-Wheeler and Competing in Martial Arts. in 2007 at National Competition she placed 3rd in Olympic Sparring. In 2008 at State she placed 1st in Forms and 2nd in Olympic Sparring. Also in 2008 at Junior Olympics she placed 1st in Olympic Sparring and 2nd in Forms. In 2009 at Nationals she placed 3rd in Olympic Sparring. and Junior Olympics she placed 3rd in Forms. Plus many other competitions she has brought home numerous 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals and trophies. Jonica is also on the Leadership Team at Self Defense America.

He is 44 years old and has been studying Martial arts off and on. He has received his 4th Dan (Black Belt) in Taewondo and 1st Dan in Combat Hapkido. on Feb. 15, 2007.He works along side Master T. Roddy with classes and marketing of the Dojo. He enjoys fishing, football and UFC. On August 1, 2006 he started the MMA Program @ Self Defense America, for adult 18 & up. Richard received his Instructor's License on Feb. 28th. In 2010 he started the women boot camp workout.

Tyler is a student at Shelbyville High School in Shelbyville, TX he received his 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo in July 2004 at the young age of 9 years old and his 2nd Dan in Taekwondo on Sept. 15, 2006. He is an outstanding student. Tyler has studied Taekwondo since he was 5 years. His dedication to the study and applications of the art are outstanding and above most 9 year old children. He is our YOUNGEST Black Belt of this dojo. He has received student of the month. He has competed in many martial art tournaments and received many trophies and ribbons.  His accomplishments are;  straight A student, two-time District Champion in Academic UIL - Storytelling, two-time District Medalist in Academic UIL - spelling. in 6th and 7th grade he placed 1st in numbers, math, and oral reading. He also played football at school as the Defenseive back-wide receiver. He also played basketball in 7th grade. Tyler enjoys fishing, riding 4 wheelers, camping, football and playing computer games and of course his martial arts. Tyler went  to the Junior Olympics in 2007. He placed 2 second place in sparring and forms. Tyler tested and received his 1st Dan in Combat Hapkido on Feb. 16, 2008. Way to go Tyler!!!!

Jessica is a Graduate of Center High School she has trained off and on for most of her life. She received her 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo on Feb. 16, 2008, she is also a 5th Gup in Combat Hapkido. Her accomplishments are several citizen awards in school and in girl scouts. She is a member of the Band and they place 1's across the board in marching compititon. She received the best smile award in Cheer camp when she was younger, She has also competed in 7 UIL and has awards for all. She played softball 2 years and received the game ball. She received straight A's in 2nd grade. Last year she received Most Outstanding Student in Ms. Bailey's pre-AP English (2007) also received the Presidents Award For Educational Excellence. She has been in many compititions and received numerous trophies 1,2 & 3rd and medals 1,2 &3 places.She also won 3rd at the AAU National Taekwondo Championships in 2007. She enjoys Taekwondo, reading, math, riding 4 wheelers, movies (action & comedy), Impact Youth Group, XMA, AAU and sleeping. She is a member of the ITA, ICHF, AAU, Center Christian Fellowship, and the Impact youth Drama Team.

is a graduate of MHS, Martinsville TX. She has been studing Martial arts for 8 years. She received her 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo on Feb. 16, 2008, and 1st Gup in Combat Hapkido. Her Accomplishments are UIL impromp tu speaking, dictionary and oral reading. She is an A-B student. She is the Instructor for the Lil Dragons in the After School program. She has been in several competitions and place 1 and 2nd in all. She went to the AAU National Competiton in July and won 2nd in sparring. She also went to the Junior Olympics and placed 2nd and 3rd. She is a member of ITA, ICHF AAU and the XMA Team. She enjoys Taekwondo, Basketball, and 4 wheelers. On Feb. 21st Reanna received her 2nd Dan in Taekwondo and her Instructor's License. She has signed up and will be attending Panola's Permedic Program after High School.

Carmen Dozier 
Carmen came to SDA 10-3-03 and started her training in Combat Hapkido on Nov. 27, 2007 she received her 1st Dan Black Belt in Combat Hapkido. She came to us with a 2nd Dan in Taekwondo Chung Do Kwan. She came looking for more in the Martial Arts.  She also has trained and received her Instructor Licence in International Police Defensive Tactics Institute on Nov 18, 2007. it is good for 3 years. She is a awesome martial artist, and hungry for as much as she can learn.  She also enjoys hunting and fishing.


  He has been doing Martial arts for 6 years, and received his 1st Dan Black Belt on Feb. 16,2008, he is also a 6th gup in Combat Hapkido. He is a member of the ITA, ICHF and the XMA Team. He is a straight a student, and placed high on the TAKS last year. hes has numerous trophies for competitions over the last 6 years. He also won 1st place with his Kama form. He enjoys riding 4 wheelers, dirt bikes and the Martial Arts! Douglas is in the 6th grade band. 

Amanda BB

Amanda has been studying Taekwondo for three years and Combat Hapkido for two years. She received her Taekwondo 1st Dan (blackbelt) on November 29, 2003. Amanda has competed in Beauty Pageant's and placed at most of them. She also competes in Martial Arts tournaments and has placed several times. Amanda is on the Demo Team at Self Defense America. She is a graduate of Center ISD.

Kimberly started her training in Taekwondo in 1999.  In 2003 she started studying Combat Hapkido. Kimberly received her Taekwondo 1st Dan (blackbelt) November 29, 2003. Kimberly has competed and has placed at every tournament she has entered. She is on the Demo Team at Self Defense America. Kimberly moved in 2004 out of state. But continued her training she also cross trained in Karate while in another town. She is now in the 8th Grade and on her way to 2nd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. You can bet you will see her at the Junior Olympics one day soon! Well Kimberly is BACK! She has picked up where she left off, and is working for her first qualifier for the Junior Olympics. Kimberly has moved to TN she will be greatly missed.

Grant Murphree

    Grant received his 1st Dan (Degree) Black Belt in Taekwondo on July 24, 2004 @ Self Defense America. He has studied Taekwondo for four years. Grant is a graduate Center High School and is in the 11th grade. He has attended several Martial Arts Championships and placed 1st to 2nd in most of his fields and he have received several trophies. Grants accomplishments, King of Winter Ball, Outstanding male Social Studies Student (7th G), Outstanding male Language Arts Student (7th G), Outstanding Male Math Student (7th G) and he was also chosen 1 of 2 students to attend the Leadership Conference in Washington D.C. (summer 04). Grant also plays football for Center ISD his positions are Running Back & Safety. He enjoys movies and likes Jackie Chan. 

Greg Fountain
  Greg studied Taekwondo for 3 years and Combat Hapkido for 2-1/2. On July 24, 2004 Greg received his 1st Degree (Dan) Black Belt. In Combat Hapkido he is 1st Gup his next rank here will be his 1st Degree Black Belt.  His accomplishment is wife and three children and has just built his home. His hobbies are installing stereos, bar-b-que, bowling and hunting.  


David started Taekwondo several years ago.  He enjoys sparring and forms. David received his Taekwondo 1st Dan (blackbelt) November 29, 2003. He also started Combat Hapkido in 2003. David has competed in U.I.L. and placed 6th. He has also been on the A/B Honor Roll for 5 years now. David was asked to lead the Pledge of allegiance in the 9/11 ceremony. He enjoys competing in tournaments, where he has placed several times. David is a student of Center ISD. David is also on the Demo Team at Self Defense America.

Daniel has been studing Martial Arts for most of his life. He first started in Taekwondo, then Combat Hapkido, and has started studying Shotokan in Jackson, MS where he is a senior at Millsaps College. His major is Anthropology. Kurt started studing Taekwondo in 1990's and has started Combat Hapkido. He is a operator for a gas plant in Texas. He is married and has two children,a daughter and a son. He also has some grandchildren. He enjoys a good work out and fishing. He is a 2nd Dan in Taekwondo and a 1st Dan Black Belt in Combat Hapkido.  On January 30, 2010.  Kurt received his 2nd Dan (degree) Black Belt in Taekwondo!
